Nestled between the mountains and the Okanogan River just south of Malott, Washington, Bunny Laine Fruit is a sprawling 40-acre orchard. Since 2007, it has been owned and operated by the dedicated duo, David Morgan and Karen Beller. However, the orchard holds deeper roots, as it has been in the Beller family since 1974. Presently, Dave and Karen’s children, Laine and Jaxon, find joy in life amidst the beauty of this orchard.

This certified organic haven yields a variety of crops, including apples, pears, peaches, nectarines, pluots, berries, and table grapes. Among the four pear varieties are Bartlett, Red Anjou, Concorde, and Forelle. The apple lineup boasts ten varieties in current production: Zestar!, Ruby Mac, Early Fuji, Sansa, Golden Delicious, NY 428, Jonathan, Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, and the exclusive Sweet Louise.

Speaking of exclusivity, the Sweet Louise variety is a unique gem found solely in this orchard. Discovered as a “chance seedling” by Ray and Marge Beller, Karen’s parents, the variety has flourished under their care. With almost 300 trees now, this orchard holds the distinction of being the sole provider of Sweet Louise apples. In the spring of 2023, Dave and Karen expanded their apple variety selection by grafting Evercrisp, Ludacrisp, and Ambrosia onto trees that previously bore Braeburn and Granny Smith varieties, adding even more richness to the orchard’s diverse offerings.
